Until Dark is a new play that reflects on consent and the intricacies of sisterhood, while testing its ties and boundaries.

When Cass is accused of a heinous crime, her sister Jackie - a promising criminal defense attorney - decides to take over the case without blinking. When Lisa, their third sister, shows up in town for solidarity, she realizes there is more to the allegations than what she was told.

The title “Dystopia Brazil” already foreshadows a future without hope. Drawing from the sources of genre icons such as George Orwell’s “1984” and Margaret Atwood’s “The Handmaid’s Tale,” this collaborative play explores situations like the military intervention in Rio de Janeiro and the encroachment of religion on the power of the state.

The audience is not left out either. Filmed throughout the performance, they are encouraged to applaud speeches, pray, and judge a lesbian couple in the play.

White Rabbit Red Rabbit

An immersive theater installation made of women bodies as they deal with their relationship to eating.

This is Me Eating____ started as an online project where women from all over the world were invited to fill in the blank and create a piece of their own that dealt with their relationship to eating and food.

After receiving the City Artist Corps Grant, Et Alia Theater produced This is Me Eating____ as an immersive, live theater performance. Picture a space with human, flawed bodies expressing what they are “eating” (both metaphorically and literally) through the use of their movements and voices.

The theme of food and body image is very specific and unique to different cultures and traditions, yet almost the same in its effect on mental health and societal pressures.

This is Me Eating___

When grieving, time seems to move at a different pace to you than to the rest of the world. It takes a while to understand that those who leave are never really gone. Such as Sofia, a Brazilian young woman who decides to take a trip to New York in the fall after her mother’s passing - a yearly trip from an early age to the mother; an emotional scar from an early age to the daughter. Written and directed by Stella Rea, the short film proposes a dive in the physicality of memories through Sofia’s journey: a trip that allows her to imagine who her mother was when in New York.

who were you in new york

Stella, Come Home is a dance-theater piece that translates the iconic American play A Streetcar Named Desire into movement and dance through the bodies of our company’s international women. We feel urged to explore what it means to perform this pinnacle of white US theater as women immigrants in New York City, one of the most heterogeneous cities in the world. Just as a reality-stricken Blanche longs for a return to her imagined Belle Reve, we are outsiders going through the painful struggle of letting go of our past, while the promised land of NYC forces us to face our truth: culturally diverse women still have to fight to be heard.

Scissors

Scissors, a play that oscillates between the desire to experience life to its fullest and to end it all.
Casper is severely depressed when he meets Cleo, a girl who just might be his reason to stay alive. As her morbid curiosities become stronger, he must navigate between his morality and his need for her. A mildly absurdist meditation on being alive versus merely surviving.
